HIKE BOAT CANYON in LAGUNA BEACH
HIKE BOAT CANYON in LAGUNA BEACH
Sunday, March 22nd
Although we can’t really complain about the winter in SoCal, we can still celebrate the spring! So come join your fellow Cornellians as we commemorate the vernal equinox with a relaxing hike in Laguna Beach. This trail is easily accessible, offers free parking, and provides scenic overlooks of the Pacific Ocean and downtown Laguna Beach. It’s the perfect hike for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels!
Gather family and friends, RSVP with Elle Erpenbeck ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ), and we’ll see you there!
Start Time: Arrive at the trailhead by 9 am, depart promptly at 9:15
Meeting Location: We will meet at Gate 14 of Laguna Coast Wilderness, which is located at the end of Dartmoor Street. If you are using a GPS, search for 515 Spur Ridge, Laguna Beach. Keep in mind that the trailhead is in a residential area so, while parking is free, it can also be limited.
Distance: 2 miles one way/4 miles round-trip
Duration: Approximately 2-2.5 hours, at a leisurely pace
Route: The first section of the trail (Spur Ridge) goes up a moderate hill for approximately .25 miles. Then the rest of the trail (Boat Road) switches between short inclines and flat terrain.
Essentials: Shoes with good traction
Water
Snacks
Sun protection: sunblock, visor, hat
Camera (the views are amazing!)
No dogs allowed
End: After the hike, there will be an optional lunch at Umami Burger (610 North Pacific Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, CA 92651). It is less than a five minute drive from the trailhead.
Email Elle Erpenbeck ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ), Cornell Class of 2010, to RSVP or if you have any questions.
