Wassailing? Wassail? What in the world is that? And why should I care?
Well, it’s the perfect example of etymology, history, tradition, and gastronomy all merging into one harmonious finale. And you should care because it’s delicious!
With origins stretching back to before the year 1066, was hal was originally a simple Anglo-Saxon greeting meaning “be in good health.” It later transformed into a popular call to drink and then, naturally, into a rowdy drinking ritual. Now wassail is a festive mulled wine that you can enjoy with fellow Cornellians at our special “Taste of the Holidays” event!

Event Description: This is a causal social mixer open to Cornell alumni, friends, and family. The fee covers an assortment of traditional Irish and holiday-themed appetizers that will be available to guests.
Upon arrival, guests are more than welcome to order anything from the full menu.
Price: $5 per person (This payment is for the appetizers only.)

Family-owned and operated since 1974, Muldoon’s is practically a historical point of interest for Newport Beach. Thus, if for no other reason, you must visit to take part in the tradition and unique charm of the place. This quaint, ivy-covered brick building has even won architectural awards!
Once inside, look for our group in the open-air Courtyard, which is shaded by a tall, graceful Sycamore tree. Space permitting, we may instead be inside the Dublin Pub, a cozy oak and brick room with a lively atmosphere.
