MARCH HIKE — BOAT CANYON in LAGUNA BEACH

SATURDAY, MARCH 5th at 9:00 AM

Although we can’t really complain about the winter in SoCal, we can still celebrate the Spring! So come join your fellow Cornellians as we kick off the first hike of the year with an enjoyable excursion into the hills above Laguna Beach. This trail is easily accessible, offers free parking, and provides scenic overlooks of the Pacific Ocean and downtown Laguna Beach. It’s the perfect hike for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels!

Gather family and friends, RSVP with Harris Hunt ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ), and we’ll see you there!

Start Time: Arrive at the trailhead by 8:45 AM, depart promptly at 9:00 AM

Meeting Location: We will meet at Gate 14 of Laguna Coast Wilderness, which is located at the end of Dartmoor Street. If you are using a GPS, search for 515 Spur Ridge, Laguna Beach. Keep in mind that the trailhead is in a residential area so, while parking is free, it can also be limited.

Distance: 4 miles round-trip

Duration: Approximately 2.5-3.0 hours, at a leisurely pace

Route: The first section of the trail (Spur Ridge) goes up a moderately steep hill for approximately .25 miles. Then the rest of the trail (Boat Road) switches between short inclines and flat terrain.

Essentials:

Shoes with good traction

Water

Snacks

Sun protection: sunblock, visor, hat

Camera (the views are amazing!)

No dogs allowed

End: After the hike, for those who are interested, we can pick a place for a casual lunch in Laguna Beach.

Cornell Giving Day 2022

Connect with Students and Programs on

March 16th - Cornell Giving Day

Although gifts to Cornell can be given on any day, Cornell Giving Day is a special way to connect with students and specific programs of interest. If you go to SUPPORT A CAUSE, you can see groupings of programs that need assistant by themes such as Entrepreneurship or Student Access. You can also easily search for things like “student projects” on the CHOOSE WHERE TO GIVE page. It is interesting to see the many student educational project teams and related student focused activities, where you can make a difference even with $25. It let’s students and program managers know that we alumni care about what they care about.
